Build Your Field

Start by adding your own charges or choose one of the centered presets in the control panel. Then turn on the heatmap, vector grid, field lines, and equipotentials to compare different ways of seeing the same field.

What this app shows

Electric field patterns from fixed source charges, plus the motion of test particles launched through that fixed field.

Important simplifications

No electromagnetic wave dynamics are modeled here. Only the electric field is shown, source charges stay fixed, and test particles do not modify the field as they move.

Good places to start: a single charge, a dipole, a quadrupole, or a random configuration. Use the Energy Readout to pause particle motion and inspect the motion more closely.
